Yesterday I noticed that my boyfriends eyebrows are better groomed than mine. And I started to feel like this 80’s Madonna brow thing isn’t working out.
So I went to Target and Milani makes an eyebrow marker.
Resist temptation.
I will not shave my eyebrows and draw them back on. I will not shave my eyebrows and draw them back on. I will not shave my eyebrows…

Omgz Ms Krazie finally talks about her eyeliner. I have been waiting for this moment for years. I’ve been in the worst mood and this just made my day.

Eyeliner is serious business. MAC smears everywhere even when I use primer. Even when you put it on your waterline, it ends up on your cheek. I’ve been saying that MAC was overrated for years and now I have confirmation from the one person that wears more eyeliner than I do.

Wow, Native American hey?

Now now people, nobody here is judging the authenticity or legitimacy, nor are we trying to make any sort of statement. This post is to showcase some recognition in mainstream advertisement. They need emoticons or something here so people don’t read into things and shape posts into something else.

I still can’t get over this, because I wear L’oreal Soft Sable C6 and I am brown. I’m the same color as Liya Kebede. Liya, by the way, is signed with L’oreal. So why the would they use Beyonce who can’t possibly be wearing that shade in the video?

I actually had to check my label when I saw this, because there’s no way in hell…so I found a youtube tutorial from woman who uses the foundation too.

What’s the point of saying that the skin is collage of your ancestors when the advertisers have photoshopped and lightened the product and model beyond recognition?

This shit gets to me because I’m a makeup artist. I started doing this because I love art, and to me humans are the best canvas. I don’t believe makeup makes you more beautiful. It should be fun. Adorning our faces and bodies is one of the oldest human traditions. Sadly, I have lost count of the number of women and girls who complain about being too dark, or too light. I’ve actually had clients apologise to me. “I’m sorry for making this so hard for you, I know my skin is too dark/pale/freckly et cetera”. Ethnicity is totally irrelevant to makeup. You mix a product, you get various shades, you’re done. Why is L’oreal promoting the idea that “mixed” has a color, or even that specific nationalities have a color (such as the Jennifer Lopez version of the ad, which says 100% Puerto Rican). It sounds small, but I see first hand how this plays out in real life.

I could find women in Brazil, England, Mexico, Iran, Morocco, Kuwait, Sudan, Malaysia, India, Nigeria and America who all use the same color foundation.

I’m not in the mood to discuss Beyonces pie chart. But lets face it, in America we are more comfortable with the idea that someone had Native American ancestors than the reality that we are on occupied land that belongs to the smallest and least visible minority. Once in high school I ran into my Grandfather at the mall. I was shopping with a friend when I saw him leaving a store. I ran up to him and gave him a huge hug. We talked for a few minutes, I introduced my friend and we parted ways. As we walked away, my friend was quiet. Then she looked at me and said “That’s your grandfather?” and I smiled and nodded. “But…but he’s..Indian?” and I could tell she was embarrassed to ask me. So I just smiled and said yes, he is. She stopped and said “I’m sorry, I didn’t know there were Indians here, I thought they had to live on the reservations…”

It’s more convenient to look for ghosts…cheekbones and almond eyes.

Beauty Supply Store Haul.
Have I mentioned how much I hate haul videos, yet feel an urge to make them based on the treasures one can find Wigs & Hair?

The only makeup tutorial you will ever need. Ever.

Illamasqua all day! It’s superior to MAC, the colors go a lot further than most. I prefer the lipsticks to Nars which is saying a whole lot. Nars has been my go to makeup for years now.
I got the Kontrol lipstick today. It’s a rich plush lavender with no shimmer and not much shine. I like how this girl is wearing it.
